11 years of excellence.
And counting.

IUPUI is proud to receive the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award, recognizing colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. We’re proud to be among five institutions to receive the HEED award 11 times -- each year it’s been in existence.

Black Lives Matter skywalk

At IUPUI, Black Lives Matter and we reject all words, actions, and deeds of racism that indicate otherwise. As members of our campus community and country still navigate and grieve the attacks on Black and Brown bodies, we still stand firm on our commitment that we indeed know that Black Lives Matter and we will continue to work to ensure a safe and civil environment.

In our commitment to Black lives, we are proactively providing resources to support self-care during this difficult time. Additional opportunities and initiatives are being developed and will be shared with the campus community soon. Please take care of yourself.

Moving forward: Anti-racist initiatives at IUPUI

In the wake of the acts of racist violence, then Chancellor Nasser Paydar called for the formation of the IUPUI Action Committee to develop additional initiatives to enhance the university’s anti-racism programs.Comprised of students, staff, faculty, and administrators, the committee has recommended multi-pronged, long-term initiatives with assessment measures that enable change, adaptation, and growth over time.

IUPUI Land Acknowledgment

IUPUI acknowledges our location on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Miami, Potawatomi and Shawnee people. We honor the heritage of Native peoples, what they teach us about the stewardship of the earth and their continuing efforts today to protect the planet. Founded in 1969, IUPUI stands on the historic homelands of Native peoples and, more recently, that of a vibrant Black community, also displaced. As the present stewards of the land, we honor them all as we live, work and study at IUPUI.
