Social Justice Education (SJEd) at IU Indianapolis finds ways to help the community explore issues of power, privilege, and oppression to create a more equitable campus, city, and world. We collaborate across IU Indianapolis to bring programs, facilitations, and trainings to students, staff and faculty; some of these stand on their own and others are integrated into already established courses, retreats and trainings, and professional development series.
A critical element of our SJEd program is the development of Social Justice Scholars, a cohort of scholars committed to student-led programming for the entire IU Indianapolis campus, that is designed to provide passionate students with opportunities to develop programs based on their interests. Students are selected by their commitment to social justice and interest in providing a welcoming place for all students at IU Indianapolis. We are now recruiting students for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The application timeline is the following:
- Application Deadline: March 21, 2023
- Interview Invitation: March 22, 2023 to March 24, 2023
- Interview Schedule: March 27, 2023 to March 31, 2023
- Notification of Selection: April 3, 2023
