Our Vision
The LGBTQ+ Center envisions a safe and inclusive campus community where all IU Indianapolis individuals feel a sense of belonging, are able to celebrate all identities, and are equipped with unhindered resources to reach aspects of holistic wellness.
Our Mission
The LGBTQ+ Center fosters an inclusive campus community by focusing on gender, sexual, and romantic identities at the intersections of class, race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, age, and other salient social identities. The LGBTQ+ Center promotes a sense of belonging and connection to IU Indianapolis and the broader queer community through programming and initiatives that educate, advocate, empower, and engage students and the IU Indianapolis campus.
Our History
The LGBTQ+ Center at IU Indianapolis was born out of multiple years of strategic planning by the administration, faculty, staff, and students. It is our pleasure to release an official history of the planning and creation of the IU Indianapolis LGBTQ+ Center. Written from the perspective of three people who were involved in the process from the beginning, we hope this history (ours and yours) brings clarity and provides a more cohesive understanding of our journey.
