Indy Pride

Celebrating that #WeAreIUI

Each year, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at IU Indianapolis and in Indiana at the Indy Pride Festival.

This year’s Indy Pride celebration happened in June at Military Park, and we were so excited to participate in the parade and festival again this year.

Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade:

The IU Indianapolis LGBTQ+ Center is proud to walk in the Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade each year, which is named after Gary Brackett’s drag persona. Mr. Brackett was the president of Indy Pride Inc. and has worked for decades with The Bag Ladies - the first HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in the USA. As a former IU Indianapolis employee and a huge contributor to the IU Indianapolis LGBTQ+ community, we are proud to call Mr. Brackett family.

Friends, families, chosen families, partners, spouses, and children - all are welcome to walk with us in the parade!

If you are interested in joining the parade and celebrating the LGBTQ+ Community at IU Indianapolis, look this space for more information for 2024!

We are also excited to have a booth at the Indy Pride Festival where you can learn about becoming a student, working at IU Indianapolis, getting involved as an alumnus and more. You can also learn about LGBTQ+ resources at IU Indianapolis and get more information about our LGBTQ+ organizations on campus.
