About: Big Brother Big Sisters is an organization that strives to provide children facing adversity with a mentor to be their “BIG.” Through a 1-1 relationship with the kids, their life is changed for the better.
Requirements: Must be 19+, must agree to spend 4-6 hours a month with child, and must make a 12-month commitment
About: The Damien Center has a mission of empowering those effected by HIV/AIDS and preventing the spread of HIV in the community. Volunteering can include working in food pantry, reception desk, special events workers, providing administrative assistance, tabling at health fairs, events, or community fairs.
At your local library, you can assist in programming, collections management, transcribe for digital collections, assist with the IPL book store, work computer support, or help deliver books to folks’ homes.

Shelter volunteers can help with animal care, facilities upkeep, administrative assistance, and customer service. Help dogs, cats, and other pets stay happy and healthy while they wait for their forever family.
Requirements: Must commit to 8 or more hours per month. There is a basic training fee of $20. Must be able to compassionately work with animals and understand animal behavior and body language. Must be able to carry/lift 20+ pounds.
Volunteers must take part in an interview, a health screen, background check, and an orientation.
Volunteers can contribute in a number of ways: Administrative/Clerical, Inpatient and Outpatient, Spiritual, Cancer Center Resource Center, Pet Therapy/Pet Visitation Program, Hospice (Must complete hospice training program), Sewing /Knitting Groups, Patient-Visitor Hospitality Cart, Flower and Mail Delivery, Customer Service, Greeter, and Newborn Intensive Care (NICU) – Limited opportunities are available at NICU units. Eligibility requirements apply. Volunteers must complete service requirements at an entry-level unit prior to a NICU placement.
About: IYG works to support LGBTQ and straight ally youth from central Indiana. Volunteering for IYG can mean mentoring, tutoring, programming or group facilitation, administrative help, facility support, or helping with special events. If you used to go to IYG, you must be 25 before you can volunteer in an activity center. If you have not been to IYG as a youth, you can volunteer at 23.
About: the Julian Center is the largest organization in support of victims of domestic violence, assault, and other life crises in Indiana. Volunteering for the Julian Center can take form in different ways including child care, teaching classes, working the resource center, the client service desk, etc. Can also be used for community hours for a class.

Unload delivered food / stock shelves or assist clients in the pantry. Mid-North Food Pantry exists to get healthy food options to homes that need them on the North side of Indianapolis.
Requirements: No experience necessary. Shelf stockers should be able to lift bulk food, so expect up to 30 lbs.
Act as an ambassador to help greet and serve guests of the museum or be an information guide. You can also volunteer to work with horticulturalists, help with events, films, workshops, and tours.
Newfields is also fairly accessible to those with limited mobility. The museum and main paths are good, and indoor wheelchairs are provided if requested. Some of the garden paths are not as accessible.
Second Helpings takes excess food and produce and turns it into delicious meals for those who need them. Volunteers may act as a Kitchen Assistant, Bread Sorter, Dishwasher, Delivery Driver, Pick-up Driver, or work Reception.
Requirements: Kitchen volunteers must be able to stand for four hours and handle basic kitchen equipment. Drivers must have valid driver’s license.
