The IU Indianapolis Multicultural Center proudly presents the Multicultural Leadership Empowerment Program (MLEP). The MLEP cultivates leaders to engage in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion; developing knowledge, awareness, skills, and practices that respond to the challenges and possibilities of learning, working, and living in a diverse world.
2020-2021 MLEP will NOT include the IU Indianapolis Record of Experiential and Applied Learning (REAL) Diversity notation.
The MLEP is a free, noncredit program provided to IU Indianapolis students. All current IU Indianapolis students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above are eligible to apply. If you have questions about the program or your eligibility, please contact Fariraishe Muzondo at famuzond@iu.edu.

Become a member of a professional network of Multicultural Leaders.
Receive access to multicultural leadership resources.
Receive an official Certificate of Completion in Multicultural Leadership.
Learn multicultural and diversity concepts and issues.
Examine self and others in the context of larger social systems.
Develop communication tools and facilitation strategies to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures, ideas, and social groups.
Identify and plan actions that contribute toward more inclusive and just communities.
Participants will complete the following within an academic semester:
Workshops: Participate in the 5 core interactive workshops (2 hours each)
Multicultural Programming: Attend 2 IU Indianapolis Multicultural Center programs or events.
Multicultural Leadership ePortfolio: Engage in self-reflection by maintaining a ePortfolio. Journal prompts will be given after each workshop, asking you to further reflect upon what you have learned about each theme and to further explore questions, observations and learning outcomes from the program experience. A culminating Reflection Paper will also be included in the ePortfolio.
